This is an exact transcription of a document from Suffolk Records office. William Pipe is my G7 Grandfather.
Just forasmuch as Anne Girling (of Framlingham) singlewoman is com before me this day and hath taken her Corporall oath that she is with child and that one William Pipe of ye towne husban-
dman upon the promise of marriage summe time before Michaelmas last had the carnall knowledge of her and that
he the said William Pipe and none other
is the father of the said child. These
are therefore straitley to charge and command you upon sight hereof that you apprehend him the said William Pipe and bringe him before me or summe other of his Majesties Justices of the Peace with sufficient suerities for his good behav-
your and discharge of the parrish
of the said child which if he shall neglect
or refuse to doe the same that then you convey him to the Common Gaole in Ipswich,
there to be continued until he shall will-
ingly doe the same, hereof faile not at yo
perell, given under my hand & seale this
18th January 1670
