Emmigrants to New Zealand 1870-1890

Could anyone suggest any good websites where I might be able to find passenger lists for ships going from England to New Zealand.

If they went to Auckland, you might find them at the databases here

Go to "history and genealogy" and explore the databases.

I had some success here. I'm sure there are other resources, though.

Also, I've just remembered newspapers at http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/index.html

You can only browse not search.

However, I found a marriage in the IGI, then looked up the BMDs for that date, and found the person I was looking for.

There is a site called 'Passenger Lists on the Internet' at http://members.aol.com/rprost/passenger.html which has loads of links to, as the title says, passenger lists! I'm sure there must be some which deal with New Zealand there. :)

One of the largest online passenger lists is a New Zealand based one called "Our Stuff" which is also fully searchable from the home page.

The shipping list show arrivals to NZ, but if anyone knows of a good "departures from UK" site, that would be helpful. Not everybody who arrived shows up on a list. I think if immigrants were assisted they showed up on a list but not so much if they were unassisted, and not if they worked their passage.
