Can anyone help me please? If a Private soldier was in barracks in , say, Belfast, in the early part of the 20th century - how much spare time would be likely to have?
Would he be allowed out of barracks and, if so, would he have to wear his uniform or could he wear civilian clothes? Any information will be a great help.
