I am slowly finding my away around this site, but enjoying the experience. I am trying to find out which ship and what year my grandmother JULIA CARTWRIGHT, left England for Melbourne, Australia Julia was born in 1863 in Great Missenden or High Wycombe, she married my grandfather Joseph Pooley in Melbourne in January 1890, so far checking passenger lists from various sites in Australia has yielded very little info. :

I don't think you will find the information you are after online.

The PRO Victoria has an index to passengers to Victoria from British Ports covering the period 1880 - 1899 which I suspect is where you will find her.

However, this is not online.

The Genealogical Society of Victoria (and possibly state libraries or some other genie societies) has the fiche also. The GSV will undertake research - for a fee.

You could try contacting your library or local society to see what they have.

Findmypast.com has shipping information for outbound U.K passengers - unfortunately it starts in 1890.

Thanks for your reply, I have checked online and you are right, could not find any info in assisted and unassisted sites, so will ge in touch with the Victorian Genealogy people .
