Spurgeon's Tabernacle

A family story refers to a great uncle who was a lay preacher: apparently he visited the family when my father was a little boy some time in the 1920s (they lived in Blackfriars, SE London), because he was going to preach at a nearby Spurgeon's Tabernacle that day.

Would some erudite soul know where it might have been in that part of London, and how and where I could find more information about their preachers/lay preachers? I'm trying to track down what happened to this great uncle, since my grandfather, his brother, went off in search of him after a particularly horrendous bombing raid during the Blitz in 1941 and could find no trace. Spurgeon's Tabernacle archives may contain the answer.

'Tis in the Elephant and Castle area of London and has its own website (http://www.metropolitantabernacle.org/). There are also a couple of photographs (http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=65541) from 1890 and 1941.
