Hi,

Wanted information on Corporal James Kennedy (No. 4312), 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, died February 8, 1900 Intombi Camp.

Was wondering if there is a place of birth or next of kin listed.

Thank you.

Thank you.Your best bet is to track down his service record at The National Archives (TNA), see other threads on this forum as to how to do that. The service record will include date and place of birth, occupation on joining and hopefully next-of-kin.

Another good source to look at is also at TNA is the Casualty Returns in document class WO25/1359-2410 and 3251-3260, there is an index in WO25/2411-2755 and 3261-3471. These definitely include next of kin, very infrequently you will find additional documents with the casualty returns, such as wills and letters.
