|help|I’m looking for any information about William Lloyd (1890). I think he was born in the west Midlands, possibly the Dudley area. I know that he married an Emma Winchurch (1890) and had 5 children; William, Edward, Doris, May, Cyril. However I don’t know anything about his parents or whether he had any siblings.
I recently sent for a marriage certificate and it told me
*William Thomas Lloyd was 22 when he got married so he would have been born around 1890
*Father - Thomas Lloyd, who was an engineer.
William and Emma got married January 7th 1912 at St Johns in Wolverhampton.
Does anyone have any more information?

Hello Karen,
Why Dudley as a birth place? Do you have further information?
I found the following on FreeBMD:
December quarter 1889, Wolverhampton District, William Thomas LLOYD, volume 6b, page 546
But, although there were a couple of William LLOYDs whose births were registered in Dudley, none had the middle name of Thomas.

Hello Karen,
I have had a look at the census entry that Lottie posted, and the place of birth does say Bradley, Staffordshire.
Now, the only Bradley in Staffordshire that I can find is Bradley in the Moors, which falls under the Cheadle registration district.
I have had a look for the birth registration for a William Lloyd around 1888/9 in Cheadle registration district and the only one that I found was:
William Lloyd, September quarter 1889, volume 6b, page 327.
If you decide to order the certificate from the GRO (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/) using these references (follow the links on the right of the page), you could also ask for a reference check that his father is named as Thomas.
Does this help at all?

Hi Jenny, there is an area of Bilston called Bradley. Bilston is roughly half way between Wolverhampton and Dudley.
Have a look on Genuki for more info:

Bradley (pronounced Brade-ley) is part of Bilston and today is in the area of Wolverhampton City Council.
Lloyd is a common name in the Black Country. I have a Betsy Lloyd (Wednesbury 1862) daughter of John Lloyd (Wednesbury 1825) and Elizabeth Stanley (Wednesbury 1825) John himself is a son of William Lloyd (c 1800) and Catherine (possibly Lloyd).
John (1825) has a son Thomas (1847) but the address then is Sherbourne St, Birmingham.
