Hi Folks - firstly Seasons Greetings to you all from The Rimmer FHS.

Next - is there any way I can find out why a man and his son would have gone to (and from) Monte Video in 1915? The details are:

Ships name: Rotorua; arrival date in England (New Zealand to London): 20.10.1915; New Zealand Shipping Company
Monte Video to Plymouth: Brandon, Mr Arthur, 3rd Class, Motor Machinist, Aged 31, last permanent residence Argentine
Monte Video to Plymouth: Brandon, Master Reginald, 3rd Class, -, Aged 10, last permanent residence Argentine

I am curious to know how/why this man and his son were in Argentine? He had a wife in England who was in the Union Workhouse, Watford, Hertfordshire, where she gave birth to a child who was adopted by the Board and later 'discharged' to Southport, Lancashire, and became my cousin's father-in-law.

Thank you for trying - much appreciated; that is a good site to have. The man's name was Arthur Brandon and he was groundsman at Hurlingham Ferro Carril Pacifico, Buenos Ayres, which I believe was the most prestigious polo club in Argentina?

Knowing when he went out and maybe even why would have just filled in a few more details.

Thanks for your time and effort.
Take care
