Hi
Would some one be able to tell whether James Barham or Elizabeth Smith was at 4 Pitt Street Manchester on the 1861 census? Their daughter Eliza's birth certificate gives this address in 1866. By 1871 they were living in Cambridgeshire.
Thanks
Ruth

Hi,
Does it give any details of the father's occupation on the birth certificate? If so this MAY help to track him down?

Hi Uk
He was a policeman. He was actually born in Walsham Le Willows in Suffolk, but married Elizabeth Smith from Hull. One of their daughters was born at 4 Pitt Street in 1866, but by 1871 the family appeared on the census living in Cambridgeshire.

Hi,
There are five Pitt streets listed in the 1861 Census Street Index here at MCL.Deansgate,Hulme,London Rd,Newton and one in Salford,so if you can narrow it down.I will try to look at the Census for you.

Hi UK,
I've just looked on the birth certificate and it is Deansgate Manchester. Thank you for all your help.

Hi Ruth,
Sadly I could not find your man.He was not listed in the TD in the alphabetical name section either so he may be in lodgings. You will just have to wait untill M&LFHS complete their 1861 Census Surname Index.

Hi UK
Thank you for looking. I'm going to try and get some time off work so I can go up to the FRC in London, so I think I'll be devoting a bit of time looking at Manchester. :)
Regards
Ruth
