I have my grandfathers original Royal Air Force Service and Release Book and need some help with understanding a few things - what does the following in bold/italics stand for |help|

Rank = LAC
Class of Release = A
Unit/Group = 5351 AC Wing II Group
RAF Character = V.G
Proficiency A = SAT
Served in the R.A.F.V.R. on full time service

He was a Workshand - does anyone know what this was, or what he did.

He was not a casulty of war so there is no listing in the CWGC site or with national archives. I also have his service number. Is there a site for the RAF that I might be able to find further info on him from ???

I don't personally have any experience of RAF records but suggest you try

www.rafmuseum.org.uk (http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk)

They also have a Department of Research & Information Services at

www.rafmuseum.org.uk/hendon/research/ (http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/hendon/research/)

Hope these supply what you need, FredP.
