Can anyone tell me if Hammersmith and Hampsteal are in Middlesex
I have just started to track my husbands family and i am trying to find out where these names on the birth cert are ?

Whether Hammersmith and Hampstead are both in Middlesex depends on the context and date. Middlesex no longer exists as an administrative entity, just a postal area. Previously they were administartively part of London County Council, prior to that they were in the County of Middlesex. Very complicated history, see the GENUKI page for Middlesex:
