Emma Diment combe st nicholas 1841/51 or 61 lookup please

Hi doing some research for a cousin and his Great Gran was Eliza Mary Reip(nee Diment)
Eliza was born to Emma Diment in combe st nicholas 30/11/1858 no father was recorded. Emma seems to have kept the child as on the 1871 census after her marriage in 1862 to Jacob Huish Eliza appears as his stepdaughter.

I am trying to find Emma Parents they are possibly John and Mary Diment but I have only hearsay for those names. has anyone an earlier census they could look up Emma on for me please?

You didn't give an age for Emma, but there are only 4 in 1851 and only one gives Combe as the birthplace. Sadly she's not with her parents:

There are quite a few DIMENT families in Combe but no John of an age to be the father.

If she marries in 1862 is the father's name not given on the marriage cert?

Have a check and I'll look again.

There is a Mary Diment, 18, Domestic Servant, Unmarried, born in Combe St Nicholas living at Clayhanger House, I think. RG9/1635, folio & page numbers missing. Schedule no 15.

thanks that Mary could be Emmas sister maybe age would be right..
will file other names for future ref: they probably are relatives right area.

I am daft never thought of sending for certificate for Emmas marriage, the information I have for her is from 2 sources.

1 Eliza Marys (her illegitamate daughter line I am following) birth certificate.

2) information from Genealogy message board put on by a Bernard Ryan whose email unfortunately is no more. he has quite a bit of info on about Emma and Jacob in which he says
"Emma Diment 1830-1905 Marriage 06/01/1862 2nd wife of Jacob Huish 1829-1907 st Andrews Whitestaunton/058
Parents John Diment(deceased) & Mary 1802 occ Glover."

I was guessing from the way it was put that he might have seen the certificate or records as he lists all of Jacobs 1st wife and of emma & his children births deaths & marriages. would love to have managed to get in touch with him dont suppose you know him???

I would think that the Emma on your 1851 is very likely the right one age seems right
need someone with the 1841 to perhaps confirm.

I definately think that the ones named" Diamond" are the ones I want.
funny thing is on eliza Marys birth cert she is Diment and on her marriage cert she is Diamond...probably depended how they pronounced it.
