Folks
FYI, the vigil has started for the over 60,000 Canadians who died in WW1 and were buried overseas. The idea is to project the names of those who died onto Canada House in London and on war memorials and public buildings in a number of Canadian cities across the country, in order to *virtually* return the dead to Canada. This was also done in 2007, in Ottawa, to commemorate those who died and some who survived the Battle of Vimy Ridge. It was very moving.
Her Majesty the Queen was present at the initiation of the event in London. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20081104/queen_tribute_081104/20081105?hub=World
You can see the vigil here: http://www.1914-1918.ca/
P.S. if you look right now, you can see a pic of the War Memorial in Ottawa as it appears during the day, with the traffic going by. BTW, weather far better than a few weeks ago - we are expecting 18 degrees ABOVE zero today and sunshine!
