i wonder if someone could give me info on a samuel phipps who married a florence swinscoe ....they had a son john willie phipps who was born in nottingham in 1904 ...john willie phipps died in australia , but not much info is known about samuel and florence ...thanx guys for your help ...cheers lyn

Your best method is to obtain a copy of the marriage registration. The marriage appears to be indexed as follows:
GRO Index Jun Qtr 1903 Nottingham Reg Dist, Vol 7b Page 863
Samuel PHIPPS & Florence SWINSCOE on the same page

This should give you the father's names.

On looking at the 1901 census, the two most likely are:

Samuel Phipps, b 1883, Cabinet Maker, born in and living in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, son of John & Mary Phipps ref RG13; Piece: 3160; Folio: 41; Page: 12

Florence Swinscoe, b 1887, b Carlton, living at Nottingham, daughter of John & Emma Swinscoe, ref RG13; Piece: 3180; Folio: 68; Page: 21

But to confirm, you will need the marriage cert.
