a family in Kearney,NJ. name;-
Andrew Irvine;(b)1903 Glas/Scot

Son; James Irvine, III (b) 5Aug,1930, N.J.
This family later left USA returned to Glas/Scot opened a Florist/Shop

James III is on the Social Security Death index:
James Irvine III, born 5 Aug 1930, died 29 Oct 1998
Last known residence: 08221 Linwood, Atlantic, New Jersey
It looks like he's also in the phone directory for Linwood for 1996-1997.
I wonder if someone can help you find an obituary for him?
:)

The obit is available online but its pay per view. I tried the newspaper archives directly and the obit archives website and both want $2.95 to view it. It's in Press of Atlantic City, The (NJ) appearing October 31, 1998.
Best wishes

HI JEAN:
Thank you so much got the link ok and looked up the obit,, guess what,??
It was not my James Irvine,!! I can't believe it after all the research,,,
it gave his Mother's name and his birth in Philadelphia which I know is incorrect,
I will go back to square one and start again. I have his parents on a US 1930
Census working as servants in Hewlett Village,Nassau Cty,Hempstead Township
I can't quite make out address looks like 'Smith Lane' family's name is 'William &
Gladys Stevens.
James parents were 'Andrew Irvine & Esther m/s Backhouse Irvine, it's possible I
have the wrong DOB for James, I know he was born in USA,and family history is
he went back there after his Mother died in Glas/Scot 1957,he signed death cert.
Jean,do you know where I can look up a Birth for James in USA,,???
Thank you for all your help this far,I do appreciate it,,
All the best;

Is it possible your James died in Scotland? There is this very promising entry in the modern indexes of Scotlandspeople....
Year of Death: 2000
Surname: IRVINE
First name: JAMES
Mother's Maiden Name: BACKHOUSE
Sex: M
Age: 64
Place of death: KIRKINTILLOCH /DUMBARTON
GROS Ref #: 508/00 0283
If the age is correct then it looks like he was born about 1936. Without knowing for certain the US state he was born in it won't be easy to find a BC. I suggest you pursue getting the DC from Scotland to confirm he's your man....and then looking for someone who might search for a possible death notice in the Scottish newspapers. The DC will tell you if he was married or not and hopefully there will be a family member as informant. It will also confirm his parents names. It will however not confirm his place of birth!!!
Best wishes
