I have received wionderful help from this forum, so here is another quest !
I have JAMES MUIR married to MARY WATSON, with a child BEATRICE MCCRIE B/1836 in Central Dist. Scotland.
I have it that they - James and Mary, were married Nov 4th 1834 (as a possible).
Can anyone give me BIRTH and DEATH of these people ??|help| AND clarification of the marriage.?
Beatrice, I have as being B/1836 in Lanark as a possible, and Death as October 11th 1897 Cadross.Scotland. I have no marriage for her.
Help with this would be much appreciated.
Thanks you for all your past help too... Great people there !
J

BMDs in scotland didn't start until 1855, before that we have to rely on baptism and marriage records of the Church of Scotland. Fortunately, these are now on line, for a small price, at Scotlands People and you will be able to get a copy of that marriage entry and the death certificate you mention there. If James and Mary married in 11834, there's a good chance that they lived until 1855, and thus had death certificates, or at least until the atart of the census in 1841 - both things you can check on SP.

I've written a short article on how to use SP which I put on the General Scotland forum here http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36108

Good luck,
Lesley
