We have a 1881 Census printout where Squire and his wife Lucy nee Hardman are living at 4 John St Werneth, Cheshire. We also have marriage certificate for Lucy Wood (widow 1890) for her marriage to Thomas Jewitt in Melbourne in 1912. We are looking for the bits of the puzzle that go between and through the sources we usually access are drawing a blank.
1. We can find no record of Squire Camfort's death in or around 1890.
2. In the household at the time of the 1881 census was a child Lizzie. We can find no record of her birth c1876. We are thinking she is Lucy's child as she is down as being born at Hayfield which is where Lucy lived with her parents George Hardman and Ann Calland.
3. On Lucy's Australian Wedding Certificate she states that she had two children deceased, we are wondering if one is Lizzie but can trace no death certificate.
If anyone can help we would be very grateful

Thanks
Mike and Jocelyn

Thanks Sue, This is Squire Camfort's brother and will be very useful later. It is SC that we are hitting the brickwall with, he has just disappeared of the face of the earth.

Hi

I have few details of my fathers ancestry, but what I do have is that in about1836 a Comfort Wood was born in Dukenfield, Cheshire who married Hannah Meighan (from Ireland). They had several children, one of whom was named Squire. I have, at present found little detail of them except that some emigrated to Australia, but I do have record of his sister Edith who appears to be great grandmother to a Lucy. (Edith is my great grandmother) she married George Metcalfe. What I have shows that Squire had no children, although this is probably wrong as I am having trouble finding out much except what my father can tell me.

I do have some other details about his family which I am willing to share with you if you wish.
