I've got stuck on trying to find detail on Thomas Howell b. c1799 supposedly at a place called Owl Rod

What I have is

Thomas Howell b. c1799 supposedly in Owl Rod, Shropshire married Susan (possibly Susannah, surname unknown) b. c1795 in Stoke Heath.
His son, also Thomas Howell b. 1823 in Stoke Heath, Staffs. Married Ann Taylor b.1831 Chesterton.

The mystery is that I can't find such place (neither can the county archivist dept.) I appreciate this is supposedly in Shropshire but someone has suggested I ask in the Cheshire forum because of Odd Rode (Cheshire), about 6 miles from where the 1851 census was taken. Has anyone got a list of families living in Odd Rode at the time of the census?

Could Owl Rod be a dialect twist on Howell Road. Was there perhaps a local road that had so any Howell families living there that it became known locally as Howell Road rather than its real name. If that is the case how could I prove it / find it?
