Would love help to find out how I could locate where a record of Medals were kept of serving officers who served in the trences from the beginning of the war. I posted a thread with his details under The old contemptibles. We do not have much information of his life in the Army (2nd East Lancs) and would love to know more.Heres hoping

If you are trying to find out which medals he was awarded then you can check on the National Archives website and follow the military history link. The medal database is searchable. www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

It only tells you what he was entitled to not were he fought.

On this page you'll see a series of tabs near the top of the screen, you need the one marked 'archives'.

For Officers, you might also try The Army List.

There is a museum for the regiment which was formed out of the East, South and Loyal North Lancashire Regiments. The museum may be able to assist; its address is:

Museum of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
