Hi Guys,

I am new to this site and wonder if anyone can possibly help me please with my Naturalisation Brick Wall.
I have traced all of my Grandfather's sibblings bar one of which there were 8.
Of the eight 4 went to America in the arly 1900s and settled and died there.

The elusive one is John Smith Allan born 1891 on the 22 February to Robert & Elsie/Elspeth/Elspet Allan. I know that he sailed to America arriving in Boston on the 16th March 1911 going to stay with a friend a Mr Robert Mutch in 52 Patrick Street, Barre, Vermont.
I know that his mother Elsie went to stay with him at 38 Long Street Barre, Vermont.

I have no further info on him apart from he was still in America in 1935 when his brother died in Barre, Vermont 1935.

Family folklore has it he went to Florida.........but I am not sure.

I have checked and he defo did not return to Scotland to marry or die from 1911 upto today...........not that he would have lived that long.

I have done a bit of digging and there was a John Allan who was Naturalised in Wisconsin.

Cananyone give me a steer asto where to go from here?
I have heard that you can apply for his Naturaisation Form but I don't have the link.

Ta,

Hi Swally, and welcome!

I'm not sure I can help without doing some extensive Googling, but hopefully someone else will be able to steer you in the right direction. It's not impossible for the man in Wisconsin to be your long lost great-uncle; there is dairy farming in both Vermont and Wisconsin. (Not that that is going to help you!)
