On the 1901 census it shows a William Mitchell in North Shields as an apprentice stone mason age 19. I can't see the actual page.

Looking on the 1891 census there is a family
Robert Mitchell, 55, Rigger, Middlesex London
Mary Jane, 46, Northumberland North Shields
George, 23, Fireman, Northumberland North Shields
William James, 8, scholar, ,,
Ellen Chater, granddaughter, 7, ,,
Mary Jane Chater, granddaughter, 6, ,,

I have Chaytor in my family . Do you mean you have info on him and want to know where he went to after?

Jo :)

Yes, I have the 1891 info. from the census and I know that William, James a stonemason married my grandmother in 1904 but don't know where he went ... or when or when he died after my grandmother left him. My mother was left with her grandparents who raised her and she didn't want to rejoin her mother but eventually did :-(

I presume that is your name on genes reunited? Have you tried mailing lists and name lists? I hope you find out.

Oh yes, Jo, I'm on Genes Reunited and have put MITCHELL , ELLIS and CHATER on many surname lists. Have had many queries on CHATER and variants but no connection on any of the three.
