Census alternatives?

Is there any way I can find out if someone had any brothers or sisters, other than from a census return?

The other source that comes quickly to mind might be Wills which name the heirs.

You don't mention any timeframe but the obvious choices are Electoral lists, Civil Registers of Births, Wills and Baptisms Registers
