My husbands family are still in Littleborough
William is a strong family name.

My FinL was in Royal engineers
His grandfather was in Lancs fusillers and killed at Gallipolli

They have connections in Wardle and around area

By marriage I am also looking for Smiths - sladen mill fold - family speculation is they were connect to Irish Sweenys, but no def. info.

Anyone with potential connections or old photos?

Hi Dawn
I have been researching into my mothers side of the family. My grandfather Robert was a Tattersall from Rossendale. His grandfather John Tattersall dissappeared and Martha (Disley) his wife took up with a James Whittaker and they had a son James. Nothing remarkable, there were a lot of Whittakers around Newchurch/Rossendale/Bacup but my grandmother was a Sarah Byrne and her mother was Sarah Sweeny, her father was Michael Byrne, they came from Ireland: Kilmovee, Mayo in c1880 and settled in Southport, later moving to Bury.
Maybe this is way off the mark, but nothing ventured nothing gained.
Yours
ChrisW
