Hi,

I am trying to find the link between my Knight ancestors and Carn Brea Castle. I have an old family photo of Carn Brea Castle (tentative date c. 1920's - 1930's) and I was told my Grandfather, Albert Knight, lived there.

There looks to be scaffolding on the right side of the castle, and this could provide a clue as Albert Knight was a builder. Perhaps he and his brother were working there, or perhaps they partly restored it and owned it for a time. Albert moved to New Zealand with his family in the late 1940's.

I recently found out that Albert Knight's brother, Thomas George Ridgeway Knight b. 1899, was listed as living here on his death certificate. He apparently committed suicide.

Can anyone make any suggestions of where I may find information on the ownership of Carn Brea Castle and any possible link with the Knight family?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

It may be worth your while to phone Cornwall Records Office.

Carn Brea Castle was most recently, a restaurant. It has a chequered history as far as I can remember, which I am sure must be documented.

Good luck with your search.

Cheers,
