The names of the fathers of the couples will be on the marriage certificates which you can order from the following url -

I contaacted the church-St. Martin in the Fields- they said there was no record of William Blackmore & Eliza Allen marriage for March 1842. is it worth the money to order a Marriage Certificate from England. How much to they cost?

How very strange that the church say that there is no record of the marriage, when there is only the one church in that district. Which leads me to conclude that there must also have been a register office in the district and that they married there. And the *only* way you will find out any info about a mariage that took place in register offices is by sending for the marriage certificate.
If you have the full registration details (luckily they're on FreeBMD) and pay by plastic online, it's £7.00. Ordering by post, phone or fax it's slightly more. But all the details are on the URL which Peter's already quoted.
For lots more info about what details you get on which type of certificate

Hello compressor

<quote>I contacted the church-St. Martin in the Fields- they said there was no record of William Blackmore & Eliza Allen marriage for March 1842<quote>

Don't forget that the indexes are compiled quarterly and that marriages were not necessarily reported to the registrar immediately. The marriage could have taken place at any time between mid December 1841 and end March 1842

"compressor" would be well advised to read some basic beginners' guides - for example starting here-

http://www.genuki.org.uk/gs/

and also make a trip to a library to look out some books on the subject.

It might also be worth pointing out that the IGI actually tells you the location of the records (at least at the time they were filmed)!

If compressor had ordered the certificate back in January when I recommended that course of action, he or she would be in possession of the certificate and quite possibly have worked several generations further back by now.

It's on the IGI as an extracted entry, not a nutter's one, 1 February 1842 at St Martin in the Fields - but the register is at Westminster Archives, not at the church.

How to feel stupid in five seconds flat :)
I didn't even think to equate 'the church doesn't have a record of this marriage' to 'the church doesn't have a record of this marriage because the registers are no longer at the church'.
Me and my dunce's cap are off to stand in the corner for the rest of the day.
