I have read topics about English divorce records here but wondered if anyone knows about Scottish divorce records. My grandmother was divorced in Scotland in 1919 ' under the insistance of her husband' who had returned from the war. We know that her daughter aged 5 stayed with her but her 3 sons aged 7-11 appear to have gone with their father at some point as they went to Canada with him in 1925.
Is it possible to access details of Scottish divorces and custody of children?
Any help would be gratefully recieved.|help|

I've seen microfiche with divorce "certificates" on them at New Register House in Edinburgh, but they're not on Scotlands people so your best bet is probably to contact GROS directly and ask. I'd make it clear that the people involved are dead, as well.

In the case of a couple I looked up, the marriage entry in the registers had a note in the margin referring to an RCE (Register of Corrected Entries) giving the date of their divorce.
Both marriage entry and RCE should be available on Scotlands People.
Try looking in local newspapers to see if it was reported.
Some divorce proceedings appear in the catalogue of the National Archives of Scotland.
