I have quite a few name interests in Norfolk. They are:

SKIPPER - Robert SKIPPER married Rhoda GOWARD on 12 Oct 1784 in Shotesham All Saints; at least 3 daughters born in Norfolk (Rhoda, Catherine, Ann)

GOWARD - see above

BALLS - James BALLS was either born in Suffolk or in Norfolk; he married Catherine SKIPPER (see above) on 20 Oct 1825 in Dunston, Norfolk; at least 3 children born in Dunston (James Skipper BALLS, Catharine Goward BALLS, Mary Ann BALLS)

HOCKLEY - William HOCKLEY married Mary Ann BALLS (see above) on 25 Sep 1859 in London; the 1871 census lists their son, James HOCKLEY as being born c1854 in Dunston, Norfolk (which would make him illegitimate); at least 6 other children, but all born in London

Does this match with anyone else's tree?

I have a William Balls born about 1700 in Worlingham near Beccles, Suffolk. He married Susannah Beaumont and they had about 8 children - as far as I know only one boy to carry the name forward - James Balls born about July 1730. I suppose its possible he migrated west a bit and finished up having family around Norwich? Is this information of any interest?

There may be a link, but your James BALLS probably isn't the same one as mine (if mine had been born in 1730, he would have been 101 at the birth of his daughter, Mary Ann!). My James BALLS was listed on the 1851 census as being born in Wrentham, Suffolk. So there might be a connection... perhaps your James is my James's father?

Thanks for responding!
