Hi - I'm new to this site and haven't had a chance to look round it yet!
I've been doing my family history for about 18 months now - it's mainly based on the Isle of Wight, but following various leads has taken me to London, Scotland, Australia and Canada! My main research is around the Wheeler family - with leads through Baxter, Burden, Weston, Wade, Henley, Whittington etc etc.

Hello Romillysmum and welcome to Brit-Gen |wave|
Kick off those heels, settle yourself back and have a good old fossick round the forums. Perhaps start by posting your questions on the Isle of Wight (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=416) forum and we will do all we can to help.

Hello and welcome
It's quite a mad house here but between the Jokes and the General Chatter we do manage to knock down a few Brick Walls (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=418) as well.
Find yourself a hard hat and join in by posting your questions, in a new thread.
We have lots of forums that cover most subjects so think carefully about which one is the best to ask your question on. You only need to ask it once, wherever you are we will find you.
If you don't know where to start Beginners (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40)or General Family History (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=345)is a good place to try.
There are also the County Forums (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2) that may help you to find just a few answers to guide you on your way.
You could also try posting your surnames on the Surname Interests (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=404)Forum and see if you get any replies there.

Hi there. I am new too and also from the Isle of Wight. I have found the site very useful and have had answers very quickly. I am slowly getting used to the site and am researching my husband's family who are from East Sussex.
Good Luck JulieW
