One thing I still haven't managed to find is a Mr Toy (mother Annie) a shipbuilder in Falmouth, who was responsible for designing and building anti-submarine ships which were used in the First World War. He emigrated to America, became a millionaire and had lots of children. Any info would be gratefully recieved

A first name would be useful in tracking him down or a rough date of birth? Any idea what he made his millions in - that may help to find him too.

The only "famous" Toy from Falmouth I could find was Sam Toy, but he was born in 1923 and was the chairman of Ford in Britain.

If you put "the history learning site" into google, then click on World War One, amongst the many sections is one called
'British submarines in World War One'

It tells you a lot on the subject, but unfortunately, does not mention Mr. Toy. :(

Using the historical direcotries web-site, I searched Lakes Directory of 1912 and found reference to:

Ship and boat builder
TOY. F.W, Bar Road

Is this you chap?
