My grandfather - JOSHUA NAYLOR - has proved a mystery for some years. I finally tracked down some records from the Post Office Archives which led me to his birth certificate; he was born JOSHUA OWEN. His birth certificate gives his father's name as GEORGE OWEN, and his mother as MARY OWEN, formerly NAYLOR. He was born 4 June 1878, 7 Jacksons Row Manchester. Family stories now reveal that he may have been brought up by his grandparents - presumably his maternal grandparents, whose name he took. Has anyone any information about him in their own family trees? I have spent many an hour fruitlessly looking for the marriage of his parents.
