Hi

Does anyone know of a Coombs DNA project going on anywhere at all as this could really help me knock down a few brickwalls.

My great, great grandfather was William Thomas Coombs, born in Feb 1860 in St Pancras, London. His father was also a Will Thos Coombs born in 1828 in Soho, London. William Snrs father was George Coombs born c1790 probably in Westminster. Coombs is a Dorset/Somerset name and I am trying to prove that link.

I am having great difficulty tracing further back than George but I believe he may have had a brother Thomas born in 1794 as George's eldest son had married in the same church twice and it was the parish Thomas lived in Paddington.

Through a cousins family tree, I have been told of two living cousins with the surname Coombs who are also great great grandchildren of William b1860. I know their father and grandfather who are still alive. They obviously descend from the direct Coombs paternal line. I dont know how any of them would feel about having a DNA test as this could help a lot in going back further than George Coombs. I wonder if there is a Coombs DNA project?
