|wave| Can anyone help please, i have just found out that i have a relation who was known as Peter the Painter, because he did a lot of the paintings on the canals and barges etc from Basingstoke up to Reading. This is all the info i have does anyone know where i maybe able to find out more info. If anyones knows of any good websites, books etc i would love to hear from them. Thank you Yvonne

Have you tried any of the canal museums around? The Kennet & Avon might be a good place to start:

The art is still very much alive today.
People still train under titles like "Journeyman Painter"
