The Morman Church has added a new Records area to their site that not many people know about. They are just starting to add records..but there are quite a few Cheshire Parish registers online now.
Here is the link:
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0
Click on Europe on the map and you will see a list of archives.
There are Births, Marriages and Deaths from Cheshire.
Thanks for the information and link. I found my great grandfather on the elctoral roll. i hope they add more rolls it would be very useful.

Another useful site for Cheshire Parish Records that I have recently stumbled upon is the Cheshire Parish Records Project.
http://www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/
This has obviously been around for a number of years; I have only recently found it - others might be well aware of its existence!
They are clearly adding to it from time to time.

I clicked on Maryp's link and searched for one of my lot's baptisms, clicked on the side where it said image provided by findmypast, it told me I could not view the image as I had to upgrade or pay per view (I already have full explorer subscription)
(This is what it actually says - Your current subscription does not give you access to the selected record, either upgrade your subscription or purchase pay-per-view units - but I have full explorer?)
On the actual findmypast site It says Baptisms are not yet available.
I think there is a danger that someone would subscribe or upgrade for records that are not actually available yet.

Hi Bumblebee,
I just did a baptism search for John Smith in Cheshire, Baptisms and Deaths (name chosen because I have no rellies in Cheshire) and checked a few of the results. Every image loaded from the Family Search site.
I wonder if yours is an unusual case?

Mine has just done the same. I have an explorer sub to fmp and I clicked on new pilot link shown here, accessed a record for Thomas Burley and it gave brief details and a tiny image to click to view the actual census . Then it put me onto fmp and said I had to upgrade(to what?) to view the census image.
Something odd going on here as an Explorer sub. gives total access to stuff on fmp. Or does it?

Hi Procat,
I am not sure what is going on, as I just tried again on the Cheshire baptism I tried yesterday and it opened no problem.
However still saying the same on the other images, which considering there are no baptisms on findmypast is misleading.
And yes, Marie, what do we 'upgrade to' when we have the full subscription.
Will try again tomorrow.

Just in case anyone opens this thread without Cheshire relatives the pilot also covers parts of :
France
UK
Norway
Germany
Czech Republic
Spain
I've just found an illusive Londoner.
:) Perseverance is necessary when searching.
Sorry Bumblebee, cannot help with images,
|sad1|UK Baptisms 1700 - 1900 did not include images.

I haven't had a problem with any of the baptisms, marriages or burials.. the images all showed up.
The only images where a subscription to findmypast was needed .. were for Census records.
I hadn't gone further with those since I have a Ancestry.co.uk subscription and can get Census there.
With every church record.. and I've found quite a few.. the image of the parish register was there. In fact, for a couple that I found in parishes that I hadn't thought to look in before.. so hadn't ordered the films at LDS-FHC.. I just went through the online version page by page to look for info that I might miss due to spelling errors/wrong indexing.
I've had a lot of luck!
Oh.. one clue that I did notice .. if the little "image icon" on the far left of the person's name in the search results.. has a green arrow.. it is taking you to another site. If there is no arrow.. the image is on the LDS site.
Because the LDS-FHC's no longer have free access to Ancestry.com, they are in the process of getting as many records world wide online as they can. They have a large indexing program going on now.

I have not been back to the site to check any more. Although as you say for census images it takes you to findmypast - which I have a subscription too- so why tell me to upgrade. (I can look on the site though so nothing lost).
findmypast have added baptisms on their site since my last post - transcriptions but not images I don't think.
Thanks anyway Mutley, at least it is a pointer in the right direction.

Wow!
Thank you for this! Managed to start on a new potential thread for one of my brickwalls through the site. Couldn't look at the image at all but I now have a new road to try!

I've just tried to look at original BMDs on this site & they don't appear to be available any more. There are links for the censuses which take you to the FMP site, but none for any of the baptisms, marriages or burials. Anybody any idea when & why they were removed?

I'm talking off the top of my head here, Wirral, but I do seem to remember that there has always been a problem with Cheshire records and the Mormons. There was a directive from the Diocesan powers that be ages ago that they would not allow filming of many Cheshire PRs by the LDS, so I wonder if this has reared its head again.
Of course there may be another explanation, and I'm not saying this is in any way the truth - just a theory :)

I'm not quite sure they had parish registers in Bredbury in 186, Miss Mary ;)
Could you add a digit for us, so we can help :D

Please note that an identical query (though the year is in full rather than abbreviated :D ) has been made here (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53258).
