I want to find out where i can get a list of freemasons for 1920-1922 London online.Looking for guild of cabinetmakers and in particular Alderman George Becker. If there is such a list then possibly his father Charles would be on it to.

Any help appreciated in this subject. I have no idea what to search for.
Already searched "The worshipful companyof furniture makers" and found nothing connecting the Beckers.

Thankyou

Donna

I think you may have confused two different things here. I think that what you want is livery companies not freemasons.

The Guildhall Library has some stuff eg

http://www.history.ac.uk/gh/18ii.htm

http://www.history.ac.uk/gh/livintro.htm

http://www.history.ac.uk/gh/livlist.htm

If it's particularly City freedoms that you're interested in note that "A series (with gaps in the 1770s-1780s) of City freedom admissions papers for 1681-1940 is held by the London Metropolitan Archives, arranged in 2884 monthly bundles. (These are indexed by the "Alphabets of Freedom Admission", arranged by freeman’s surname and then monthly.) The papers should indicate the livery company of a freeman. Microfilm copies of the alphabets are held by Guildhall Library Manuscripts".

Just goes to show I don't know what I'm talking about or looking for.

Looking for anything really that will connect the Becker family from Pancras London who were gilders and cabinet makers. They had quite a few men working for them by 1881. I presume George Albert Becker born 1879 took over the family business after his fathers death in 1916. George's first so was born in 1921 with a middle name of Alderman. There must be a reason for such an unusual name. Would It comemorate George being made an Alderman in around 1921. I'm only quessing really and thats why masons sprung to mind.

Like I said I know nothing about them really.

Thanks Donna
