|help| Is it possible to find some one who was only born in 1938? It was my husbands father, he knows nothing at all about him or his family, the only detail we have is that he was James Donnellan, and he was born 9.12.1938 probably in the north west, manchester/cheshire/lancs....he died around 1977/1978 when he lived in todmorden, and was by then estranged from his family, he married Wendy bernadette swain in the late 60s and My husband (peter stuart) was their first child. although, he believes he was married before, and Bolton had a connection somewhere along the line. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Hi Landylass2a

It is possible to search the births, deaths and marriage indexes and then purchase the certificates. For instance if you could find his marriage to Wendy Bernadette than the certificate should give his status at the time of his marriage, ie. divorced or widowed or bachelor. (The marriage is there in the first quarter of 1969)

Hi Bumblebee, I just realised I perhaps posted this on the wrong part of the forum, sorry. Where do I start to search for the marraige?
Thanks, Carole

Thank you so much. I take it from the pm you sent I can now get a copy of marraige cert, and start from there. Do I use the code which was behind the details in pm?

Procat will probably have sent you the following details:

Names of the people
The name of the District where the marriage was registered
The volume number
The page number
The quarter of the year in which it took place.

Use that information to order a copy of the certificate from the GRO. Click here (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/) and follow the links in the box on the right-hand side of the website.

Good luck!
