Not sure which area to post this is but here goes.
I was very confused to find a David Stringer born in Shorncliffe, Kent (spelt very badly but got there in the end) who appears to be one of the family of Stringers I am looking for who lived in Great Staughton. Have done some research and found out that Shorncliffe was a military camp.
Joseph Stringer married in March 1811 Colmworth Bedfordshire but didn't appear to have any children until late 1817 that I could find....but a David Stringer was named as his son and he took over a license of a pub from Joseph Stringer in 1871. I can only assume once married Joseph Stringer joined up, (2 of his sons where in the military) ended up at Shorncliffe where at least one child was born.
Can anyone tell me where the parish records would be held for these births, have tried to look but quite abit on the 1900s but unless I am being stupid can't see to much else. Have also waded through some military birth indexs which is painfully slow on a bad wireless link from the Outer Hebrides and I had to give up :confused::confused:
Can anyone please advise me
Thanks Debs
