Italian ancestors

Hello, I had a conversation with a friend today who was interested in tracing her roots, however her mother is Italian. She has no idea how to go about starting and neither did I.

Is it feasible to trace Italian ancestors from England, especially ag labs ?

The key to tracing Italian ancestry is knowing where the person came from; unlike the UK there are no national records. The society has a website here:
