I need to pay for information I have received from a Hansestadt in Germany. Can anyone advise on how I do that? I have been given their bank information but don't know how to go about getting it to them.
Many thanks

Does your bank transfer money? Most here in Canada do. It is called direct debit and I would assume that the money would be sent in euros and you would pay the exchange rate and transfer fee. Or you could get a postal money order/bank draft in euros and mail it to them.

The easiest way (and, I think, the cheapest) is usually to pay using a credit card - but I guess that that's not an option in this case. I'm sure that your bank would send a cheque written in Euros or make a transfer, but they would charge you for the privilege. I have also found that there is now something called Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), you will need to speak to your bank about it, mine does not yet seem to have implemented payments to Europe but they are in the process of doing so. (see http://www.bacs.co.uk/BACS/Banks/Payments+industry/Europe/SEPA/)
My bank reports You will need your own BIC (Bank Identifier Code) and IBAN (International Bank Account Number) as well as the BIC and IBAN of the receiver's accountand ... at the top of your bank statement you will find your own IBAN and your bank's BIC

Get your bank to issue a cheque or a transfer. There will no doubt be fees involved though.

Of course, my bank can already receive payments from Europe using SEPA but they don't do payments out. They're obviously dragging their feet on this - they'll probably lose some fees when they do implement it.

If you use Internet banking you can make the payment online seeing that you have their details. If you dont use this service, as been suggested, see you local bank
