I have just discovered that the Vicar of West Anstey (North Devon) in 1901 had the very appropriate name of Angel Spicer - his parents must have had a premonition when they chose his name! Angel was born in North Molton and his father was a doctor (from the 1881 census) ;) Another 'appropriate name' was that of a one time rector of Lundy Island off the North Devon coast, who was Thomas Heaven. The island came to be known as the 'Kingdom of Heaven.'

Best wishes
Ann

Hmm, I wonder, when I was driving in the 1970s I came across a mobile butcher's van in Crook, County Durham.
The butchers name and address were emblazoned across the side of the van -

A Thief,
Butcher,
Crook
Co. Durham

I wonder how his customers reacted.
Cheers
Guy

...If you fancied 'dodgy' meat & being short-changed, he was possibly the man to see ??? :-) Okay, okay! I'll quit the jokes...
