Hubbards in Delson

Hi with reference to my previous thread, I now Know that James and Edith Hubbard and the Boys, James, Richard,Leonard and Arthur were in Delson, If anyone has any info about them I would appreciate it, Also Patrick (pat) hubbard who was the son ofone of the boys was in the Canadian Black watch and was stationed in the United Kingdom in 1941 if anyone has any info. He was married to edna and he lived in Windor Ontario in 1983, and in 1995 was in Owen sound, Ontario.

The Directories for the City of Montreal from 1842-1999 are online here http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/index.html

According to Wikipedia, Delson as a village, on the south side of the St. Lawrence River, was incorporated in 1918, so I started looking later than that, but you SHOULD be able to find stuff earlier (than I did), possibly under St. Lambert or "Montreal South Shore" or in the "Banlieues" sections.

Any rate, I found your Pat, I think, in 1958. He was a plumber and lived on St. Charles street in the town of Greenfield Park (GPk as the directory has it), which is now, as I remember it, a stop on the suburban Métro. So, if you troll through the directories for other dates, you should find the Hubbards...I would suggest going backwards as a start, but that's just me...

Not sure if you have this information or not.
James Hubbard born 1861 died Delson, Quebec September 12, 1940

His son Arthur Bernard Hubbard
WW1 Regimental # 110252 CEF Attested on February 11, 1915 Montreal, Quebec.
He married Violet "Isabella" Sutton in 1920 Delson, Quebec.

I just did a quick check of my local phone book....sorry , I can't find Patrick Hubbard. .. No Hubbards!!! Have you tried Canada411.ca great for phone numbers and addresses!

After Ann's posting I double checked our current phone book... No Hubbard's in Owen Sound at the present time...

There is an H. Hubbard listed in Meaford, Ontario. I'm not sure, but I don't think it's that far from Owen Sound. If you try 411.ca for Owen Sound and surrounding areas it lists a total of 16 Hubbards.

Is there only the one cemetery in Owen Sound? I was checking obits for Franks people. Only a few there, but not the ones he's looking for.

There is a great website www.legionmagazine.com/en that list the death dates of our Veterans. It lists the war served, reg. #'s etc. I checked for your man, but did not find anything. I just thought I'd pass the website along in case you needed it for another search.

Many thanks to all you great people for your help. I have found some imformation regarding my family in the quebec vital records, they were in Delson upto and including 1940 I know one of the boys "Arthur" married a Violet Sutton in Delson so am making some progress, arthur and violet were visited by my father in 1942/3 when his ship was in canada he was in the royal navy, and the were in Montreal, again to everyone your help is greatly appreciated.

The main cemetery in Owen Sound is Greenwood, there is also St. Mary's (Catholic) and a few smaller ones in the surronding townships.
