Hello Donald,

I had a look on the LDS 1851 census transcript for David, but could not find him. However, I did find what could be his parents:

William JAKEMAN Head M 54 M Farm Lab Morton Baggot-War
Maria JAKEMAN Wife M 48 F Labs Wife Alton End Solihull-War
Elizabeth JAKEMAN Daur - 10 F Scholar Yardley-Wor

Address: Bottom Of Wharf Lane Near Acocks Green Warwick Rd, ---
Census Place: Yardley Solihull, Warwickshire
PRO Reference: HO/107/2071 Folio: 49 Page: 8 FHL Film: 0087335

Also following on from Di & Trev's response, I had a quick look on FreeBMD and there is a death recorded for a Mary Ann Jakeman in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1872 in Solihull reg district. Mary Ann was aged 33. Sounds promising!!

Good luck,

Janet.

Thank you Di & Trev
Yes, David was previously married to Mary Ann Crapp. The background I have on him is:
David joined the British Army in December 1851 serving in the 53rd. Foot Regiment and posted to India in October 1852.
David served nine years in India, returned to England in 1860 and discharged from the army at Aldershot on 8th April 1862.
David was first married to Mary Ann Crapp in 1862. (I do not know the full date and location)
Mary Ann died on 14 July 1872 age 33 years. (I do not know the cause).
Although Maryann was married to David Jakeman for ten years, I have no record of them having any children.
David then married Julia Connelly on 10 Nov. 1872

The Frank Brooks you mention, was he part of the Jakeman census detail?

Once again, thank you for responding to my posting.

Thank you Janet
Your deductions seem pretty bang on. Although Maria appears a year out - (I have found some census ages to be up to five years out and ten years later to be correct, etc.) she ties in ok.

The following is information I have on:
William Jakeman (born 07 Feb 1797, died 30 Mar 1871, age 74 years) and Marriar (Maria) Burd (Bird), (born 22 Dec 1801, died 21 Aug 1863, age 62 years)
They had ten children,
Thomas 25.3.1821, John 26.1.1823, David 7.2.1830, Betsey 31.5.1834, Henry 12.12.1835, Mary 2.8.1838, Eliza 26.12.1840, three children William, William & Eliza, died when in infancy.

I have no information on either William or Maria’s parents, nor of who their family married.

I have Mary Ann (Maryann) Jakeman, nee Crapp, as 14 Jul 1872, but place, cause of death or burial unknown.

Prior to your information, all I had for their address was Acocks Green, you have added a little more with “Bottom Of Wharf Lane”.

Also to figure out; where were Mary age 12yrs and Henry age 15yrs on census night.
Seems every bit of new information brings about more question resolving.

Thank you Janet, for your contribution and good luck wish, it is most appreciated

Hi Donald,
Yes Frank Brooks was included in the Jackman census detail, unfortunately couldn't get original image :( . Might be worth asking specifically for the look up under folio number etc. He was listed as son but i can't figure out where he might fit in.

Hi Di & Trev
Thanks again for your info.
I think this confirms David and Mary had no children, as they would have been listed on the census.
Particularly as the Frank Brooks appears to have been a neighbours child, staying with the Jakemans on census night.
The following is of the 1881 census showing Frank son of Michael Brooks, Acocks Green, Warwick.
