Hi,

Can somebody help me with my brickwall!

my great grandfather was called Daniel Joseph Russell and he was born in liverpool in 1904

My great great grandfather was called William Henry Russell born in 1869 I believe.

My great great great grandfather was also called William Henry Russell.

They were all Carters in Liverpool.

My dad told me that there was some story that the family sold the carting business when the mersey tunnel was being built and they made a lot of money from it and went into buying houses and such like.

Could somebody help me out with some sources of information on my family. I would think that there couldn't have been many carters with the name of Russell in Liverpool. Maybe im wrong.

Id appreciate the help.

Thereis is a marriage registration in the September qtr 1890 at Liverpool reg district, vol 8b, page 189 of a William Henry RUSSELL and a corresponding entry for an Eliza Ann WALTON.

There is also a marriage registration in the December qtr 1869 at Birmingham registration district, vol 6d, page 270 of a William RUSSELL and a corresponding entry for a Sarah FOSTER. This also fits in very well with an 1861 census record (RG9/2237, folio 115, page 11) at Chipping Campden of a Sarah Ann FORSTER, aged 16, living at Church Street with father Daniel, aged 42, a Tailor born Ilmington, Warwickshire and mother Fanny, aged 34, a Dressmaker also born Ilmington and siblings John H and Daniel perhaps this is where your ggrandfather's name originated.
