My surname interests in Kent are Hills, Caspell, Chaplin, Rose, Waller, Pearce, and Hougham. I'm willing to share what information I have on them. They are mostly from the areas of Canterbury and Sandwich.

I don't know where this fits in, but my G G Grandfather was George Caspell WILKINSON who was born in Brompton, Kent in 1833. His father, Thomas WILKINSON was a tailor born in Yorkshire who moved to the Medway area of Kent in the early 19th century and married Ann Beacon BALDOCK in the Chatham area in 1825. I have no idea where George got his "Caspell" from as we can find no trace of any CASPELL's in the close family. Perhaps he was named after a close family friend. Would any of this fit with your CASPELL connections?

I also have an interest in the Hills family and Sandwich. The line I am searching for has an Admiral George Hills who married Diana Hammersley in 1813. I have gone back a lot further but need more verification to move beyond reasonable doubt.

Mary Anne CASPELL was born 22 July 1826, parents John CASPELL/CASPAL and Jane ROSE. John CASPELL was born 20 May 1779 Sandwich, married 05 May 1811 Sandwich, to Jane ROSE born 18 Dec 1783 Sandwich.
They had children:

-Susanna
-James
-John
-William
-Richard
-Mary Anne [above]
-Alfred, b 1828 Sandwich

Jane ROSE's parents were William ROSE and Susanna WALLER of Sandwich.

Possibly [sketchy 'member-submitted' info from the IGI] John CASPELL's parents were John CASPEL, born about 1753 St Marys, Sandwich, and Hannah HOUGHAM. Their children:
