hi. am trying to trace the birth of JOHN ASHTON. NEWTON. WARRINGTON. aprox 1803 to 1806. have tried everthing but no luck. any help much appreciated. EDWARD ASHTON.

There is a baptism on IGI for John ASHTON 1 Sep 1805 at Grappenhall, the son of Thomas and Betty ASHTON - is this likely?

What other information do you have, and what records have you searched so far? Do you have any idea of his parents names - it will be difficult to make sure that you have the right person without some idea?

Hi JDGen, Thank you for your info. the only other info I have is that JOHN was married in 1844 to CATHERINE McCARRIE, born aprox 1818 ireland they had 4 children, THOMAS, JOSEPH, WILLIAM, ELIZABETH. I have no idea of parents names. but the name THOMAS seems to be a family name as it is repeated in three generations. once again thank you. EDWARD.

I would suggest that you send for the marriage certificate of John and Catherine if you haven't already got it. This should give you John's father's name and occupation. It is difficult with what is a fairly common name so it is worth the expense to be sure you don't research the wrong family.
