Procat are you lurking???? or anyone else who might be able to help, I've come across another Tomlinson - Charles 28, wife Elizabeth 26 and daughter Anne 1yr in 1875. They came out to NZ with George Cartwright's group on the Collingwood. I think he is a brother of Henry Tomlinson and half brother to George C. the ages are about right though Charles could be a cousin. Could you or someone else do a look up in the 1851 census and see if you can link Henry, Charles and John Tomlinson for me please.
In the 1841 census
John Tomlinson 30
Mary Tomlinson (Cartwright) 30
Tomlinson/Cartwrigth 4yr old (George C.)
Herriott 5 months

Henry(born about 1844) and Charles(born about 1847) were not on the scene at this stage and there must have been one or two more born before Henry came on the scene because Henry was eight/nine years younger than George.

Anyway I'd be glad of the help - see what you can come up with please.

I'm afraid I don't have the 1851 census for Lincolnshire and Ancestry does not have it either.

Someone else may be able to assist but it may help if you can post where they were in 1841 - I don't know if the 1851 is indexed.

Lincolnshire FHS are THE best FHS.
They have indexed every census, and I believe that the 1901 census is now complete. The indexes are SURNAME only, by registration district on fiche, or whole county on diskette.
They have also produced marriage indexes for every deanery from 1700 - 1837, and if you buy the diskette you can do alpha sort by bride or groom. For somewhere like Horncastle deanery with 66 parishes £7.52 for 137 years of marriages is an absolute bargain.
There are also burial indexes for many parishes 1813 - 1900. Most parishes are also either on the NBI.
Loads of stuff on Poor Law re settlements etc.

Can I just confirm precisely what you mean by the question?
My first thought was that you meant all the marriage indexes on one CD, all the burial indexes on another, etc.
But you could mean the census surname indexes, the burial index, marriage index, any Poor Law refs, etc for any one place e.g. Frampton, being listed under the place name.

Your first thought was correct.

My mob moved all over the place (as I suspect did most peoples) and for me it is easier to do a blanket search of all parishes for a name for an event (eg marriage) then to search each parish individually. Often I do not know where they have run off to.

Now I know what I'm asking for, I'll ask!
I know that enquiries were being made about producing something on CD, but for the life of me can't remember what it was. As always with this sort of thing price is a critical factor and the FHS were trying to find someone who could provide what they wanted at the right price.
I don't think burials on CD would be considered until they have all the burials indexed, which could be some considerable time as not all the relevent registers have been deposited with Lincoln Archives. (I think that LFHS indexers are visiting the churches in order to fill the gaps.)What 'might' happen is that a diskette like the marriage index would be issued when a deanery is complete, but as most of the burials are already on family history online, which you search by name, it is a big 'might'.
