Another Brickwall. I can't find any Dougherty's before the marriage of Charles Dougherty and Elizabeth Nesbit in 1789 in Earsdon Parish Church. The spelling of the family name later changes to Docherty or Dockerty. I have been informed that this was because of the Anti- Irish feeling at the time. Is there anyone who can help me to find the birthplace of Charles Dougherty c1762?

Thanks. It is possible, because I have no idea where Charles was before his marriage. Is there any way I can find out if he came from Liverpool? Jean

Do you have any more names as in Father or Mother. The Liverpool records office holds a lot of information, but I suppose that you could try and get hold of the Church for theres.Would imagine without any other names, this Charles could be anyone really....Colin
