Afhiganistan Medal - Charles PRYOR

Can any help or point me in the right direction ... |bowdown|

My husband grandfather left a silver medal from the above war... There is no ribbon attached to it The following information is enscribed on the edged....
5246 DR C. Pryror DR C/3 RA. dated on back 1878-79-80. picture on back depicting a large elephant with a man riding it.

Sorry I dont nothing else about this medal etc.... All I know is the spelling of Pryor has varied from other documents we have. Where do I go from here ???
