I have no Romany ties but came across this and thought it might be of interest to someone.

I have no Romanies either, but that was fascinating. I wonder if the customs are still upheld today.

Mmmm?? I would personally take that tale from the Mersey Times with a little pinch of salt:) fascinating tho it may seem. I think there may be a little poetic license in there to make the article a bit more interesting. It could be true of some I suppose.

Very interesting, Astoria....
Did you hit the " main page" link? At the end of the list of sites available is "The Genealogist's Lament" . Its very true...
Now, I must go back and read more of the links.....maybe I'll find a clue to someone on my tree, even if none of them came from Merseyside or were Romany ...that I know of!

Hi Astoria, looking through the section CWGC I found my uncle's details where his gravesite is in Keren War Cemetery, he was killed in action at Keren in 1941, fighting against the Italians, which was a bit ironic, seeing as our family has Italian heritage. He served in the Worcestershire Regiment.
Cheers
Ted.
