Hi all, I'm helping a fellow member of the British Titanic Society who has been researching her family BAILEY and was told that a member of the family had died on the Titanic. Apparently, there is a house in Usk, Gwent with a stained glass window inside in memory of the person who allegedly died when the Titanic sank. There is no name on the window but 1893-1912 is inscribed. Does anyone have any knowledge of this window and the boy aged 19 who died? The list of crew and passengers has already been searched with no luck.

What surname have you searched for in the Titanic passenger and crew lists? Just because he was a member of the Bailey family, it doesn't mean that his surname was Bailey. He could have been the son of a married Bailey female, so under another surname. But he would still have been regarded as 'part of the family'.

In view of the link with the memorial window at Usk, and assuming that you have the address of the house, then unless you can find the house listed in a contemporary directory, this would seem to be a case for requesting a search in the 1911 census to find out who lived there. See http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/1911census/ I know it's expensive, but that may be the only way unless you are prepared to wait.
