Hi there

I believe that my 2 x great grandfather, George Henry Rowe b. 1859 went to South Africa to work in the diamond mines. He left England sometime after his youngest son was born in 1888. He wife remarried in 1900 and it is believed that George died in SA sometime between 1888 and 1900. Cannot find any listing of death here in England or aboard ship.

If anyone can help tracing his death in SA then I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Liane

May I ask what his wife's name was?

Hi Aislin

Sorry not to have got back sooner - not had chance to do any research of late. George's wife was Bessie Cock but she didn't travel to S.A. with him, he travelled with one of his brothers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Liane

Liane, the reason I asked was that I had an unknown Rowe husband who vanished about that time (now identified as Charles b. roughly 1840) His wife remarried in the mid-1800's, but its a mystery about the whereabouts of Charles.
